  2. chemical activity of the adrenal glands. By
  3. 1946 Reichstein had identified a large number
  4. of steroids secreted by the adrenal cortex,
  5. some of which would later be used in the
  6. treatment of Addison's disease. Reichstein
  7. shared the 1950 Nobel physiology or medicine
  8. prize with Edward Kendall and Philip Hench
  9. (1896-1965).
